PROGRAM

Routine Exams & Cleanings

At OHIP, we believe that routine dental cleanings and exams are important for a child to maintain good oral hygiene, and to prevent both decay and disease. Our mobile-model allows for convenient dental services for students while at school, or attending an after-school program.

Dental Fillings

A dental filling is a type of restorative dentistry treatment used to repair minimal tooth fractures, tooth decay or otherwise damaged surfaces of the teeth. Filling materials, which include composite, porcelain and silver amalgam, may be used to even out tooth surfaces for better biting or chewing.

Fluoride Treatments

In addition to the cleaning, your child will also receive a concentrated fluoride treatment to help their teeth stay strong.

Preventive Care

During the exam, the dentist will check all of your child's existing teeth for decay, examine your child's bite, and look for any potential problems with the gums, jaw, and oral tissues. If indicated, the dentist will clean any teeth and assess the need for fluoride.

Dental Sealants

Children can benefit from sealants. In fact, we believe that the earlier a child gets them, the better. Sealing these teeth as soon as they come through can keep them cavity-free from the start, which helps save time and money in the long run. We would be happy to talk with parents about this option for their child.

Dental Health Education

The core-purpose of OHIP’s existence is to provide access to oral health education for kids and families throughout our entire network. Our focused curriculum improves oral health literacy within schools, throughout communities and after school programs.

Tooth decay, though highly preventable, is one of the most common chronic diseases among children.
